About the Authors
Lenya Heitzig was headed for a promising career in fashion merchandising when God changed her direction. After a lifetime steeped in agnosticism, Lenya became a Christian in 1978, joining the Jesus Movement in Southern California.

Her training for ministry was forged on the anvil of servant leadership. She joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in 1980 as single women’s counselor and discovered that ministry is not just telling people how to act but serving them as cook and secretary. Helping to establish a Christian coffeehouse in the red light district of Honolulu and sharing Christ’s love with prostitutes and pimps taught Lenya compassion.

After YWAM, Lenya married Skip Heitzig, a determined California surfer on his own spiritual journey. In 1981 they headed to the Southwest and settled in Albuquerque. She is now serving as the director of Women at Calvary, one of the core ministries at Calvary Albuquerque. Her husband, Skip Heitzig, is the Senior Pastor of the 12,000-member congregation that has been ranked one of the fastest growing churches in America. The Heitzigs share a passion for world missions, and they have traveled together to Japan, India, Rwanda, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Honduras, and Europe spreading the gospel.

Penny Pierce Rose graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in political science. After seven years with Bible Study Fellowship, Penny joined the leadership team of Women at Calvary. She serves as writer-in-residence for W@C, writing women's Bible-study curriculum, promotional materials, skits, radio spots, and video scripts. She has served in many other capacities, including director of VBS, Kid's Crusade Coordinator for Harvest Crusades with Greg Laurie, and secretary for the Women's Committee of New Mexico Festival '98 with Franklin Graham. Her writing has appeared in Why Fret That God Stuff? and God's Little Rule Book. She and her husband, Kerry, have three children: Erin, Kristian, and Ryan.
